US Department of Justice has given assurance to Swiss chief finance diplomat Michael Ambuehl that it would respect Swiss law when asking for bank client data of potential tax dodgers, with Switzerland and the US currently in negotiations to strike a deal that would end tax probes into at least 10 Swiss banks suspected of helping clients dodge taxes.
ASB Bank warns customers against fraudulent emails
New Zealand’s ASB Bank has warned customers of fraudulent emails posing as messages from the bank. The fake emails display a caption “Your End of the Year Account Status”, and are creation of fraudsters that entice customer to access a bogus login page in a bid to steal their internet banking credentials.
Bank of Missouri reports telephone phishing scam
US-based Bank of Missouri advised customers to ignore calls from a telephone phishing scam that attempt to gather their personal banking information. The fraudulent calls are being made to customers across the nation, with a voice message telling Bank of Missouri customers that their debit cards have been blocked, advising them to press “1” to unblock said cards.
